Welcome to the Scranton Equity Page

Scranton Equity Exchange was founded in 1914 as a farmer owned cooperative to service the needs of the Scranton area farmers and ranchers and is one of the oldest businesses in SouthWest North Dakota.  Primarily the early cooperative was a grain and feed business and had total sales of around $60,000 a year.  

Over the years a lot has changed!  The Equity has grown into one of the three largest independent farmer owned cooperatives in the state of North Dakota with current sales ranging between seventy to over one hundred and ten million dollars a year.   The system now includes a grocery store,  a truck/tractor/auto repair shop,  a pronto auto parts store, a large agronomy center, a feed mill,  a fuel station which includes rural delivery services,  a lumber yard and a grain division with unit train loadout capacity.  The most recent additon was the construction of Frontier Travel Center and Truck Stop in the neighboring town of Bowman ND.   

It was said once that the cooperative could supply the total needs of any family - which - except for a pharmacy,  I believe could be an accurate summary - as the lumber division carries a small selection of clothing.  The system remains totally owned by local area farmers and ranchers!
